This year’s Semana Santa is just like the previous years, except that Sildo is not with us anymore. In addition, we have a new carroza bearing the artists image of Michaelangelo’s Pieta. How I wish the artist/sculptor made the image life-size and the Virgins cloak/gown in brown. The procession (Via Crussis) followed the old route all over the town proper but sad to say, the Pieta has to take an alternate route as some streets were too narrow. The street that connects to the main/national road has an arch which definitely will now allow the Pieta with the cross at the back to pass through.
Here are some of the pictures of the carroza’s that were also featured in my last year’s blog.
The image of St. John the Evangelist. He has different clothing and decors this year. The other carrozas can be seen in the background. At the moment we have only I think 8 carrozas..too small compared to the other communities. I saw in a TV feature that San Pablo in Laguna has 50! Maybe, a few years from now if I have money I may be able to commission one carroza.
