Visiting our Dear Parted during the All Saint’s Day Holiday

Ever since Nanay died last January 13, 2006, it has been our practice to visit the cemetery, hear mass and offer flowers.  Actually this practice started several years back as we never fail to bring flowers for Lolo and Lola at the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery.

Flowers are getting more expensive but the quality are not improving.  I have to be contented with the common chrysanthemums in various colors and a bundle of Malaysian mums.  Gerbera are also very expensive at 350 per bundle of 10.  How I wish I will have the opportunity to be in Manila during the Oct 29-30 so I can buy lots of flowers at the Dangwa area.

I did seven floral arrangements…one for Sildo, one for Gina, one for Papa, two arrangements for Tatay, Nanay, Lolo and Lola and one small arrangement each for Ng Korit & Dominc and for Mamang, Papang & Ng Nem.

A holy mass is always celebrated at the Cemetery in celebration of the All Saint’s Day and of course since it has been a practice to also celebrate remembrance of our dear departed.  Another holy mass is celebrated the following day, also at the cemetery for All Souls Day.

We have also been going back to the Garden of Ascension in the evening to camp at Sildo and Gina’s plot as the atmosphere in the park is festive.  This year’s celebration is a bit tame as the Catholic Church cautioned Catholics not to don devilish costumes.  The kids though still enjoyed the event especially with my simple trick or treat.
