Every year during the Holy Week, a Via Crucis (Stations of the Cross) is being done at 5 in the morning. The fourteen stations of the cross are situated all over the town proper. Via Crucis starts Holy Monday until Good Friday. Last year I was able to join the Good Friday early morning Via Crucis.
This year, I joined Maundy Thursday early in the morning.
It was still dark when I left home and got this picture of the moon and the lights in our plaza.
Our Church, St. Michael the Archangel is being reconstructed. The facade has been finished, half of the floor area elevated and some side walls and columns already constructed. There are still a lot of work to be done and we still needs a lot of help to be able to fully finish the Church. The original structure is being reconstructed.
This is the song that we have always been singing since I was small girl every Holy Week.
“Dios namon sang kalooy, Ikaw and amon nga Amay.
Magbubuhat, manunubos, Kag Ginoo sang tanan.
Hesus malooy ka sa amon, Patawaron mo kami,
Ang sala gin dumtan namon, Dili na magliwat kami.
Namatay si Hesukristo, Didto sa Kalbaryo,
Agud nga kita maluwas, Sa kasubo nga daku.”
It is still very dark, some brought candles while others have small flashlights so they can read the prayers and the songs.
This is our barangay’s Capilla situated at the entrance of our street.
After the last station, we went back to the Church for the final prayers. I really hope and pray I will be able to join the Good Friday early morning Via Crucis. Praying also that everyone will have a blessed Holy Week and not just enjoying the holiday going to resorts or beaches.
